IsDB Board of Governors Reaffirms Confidence in Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser, Re-elects Him as President

The Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), representing the 57 member countries, re-elected Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser as President of the IsDB and Chairman of the IsDB Group for a new five-year term on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The decision was announced during the plenary session of the 2026 IsDB Group Annual Meetings currently held in Baku. Dr. Al Jasser’s re-election reflects the Board’s confidence in his leadership and the progress achieved by the IsDB Group in recent years. Since assuming office in 2021, Al Jasser has led a comprehensive reform agenda to enhance the financial standing and developmental impact of the group across member countries. Under Al Jasser’s leadership, the IsDB Group’s annual approvals more than doubled (from USD 6.8 billion in 2020 to nearly USD 16 billion in 2025), while annual disbursements increased from USD 7.1 billion to USD 11 billion.
